Students from the ¹û¶³´«Ã½ of Worcester came together older members of the community for a festive tea dance.
The event, which was hosted by Worcester Students’ Union welcomed over 130 people from the local community. Many were participants of the ¹û¶³´«Ã½’s Active Ageing programme, which runs sports sessions for those aged 60 and above.
The ¹û¶³´«Ã½’s Dance Society gave a performance during the afternoon and were on hand along with students from the musical theatre society, Loco Show Co. to dance with the attendees.
Bill Gairns, of St John’s, said: “We’ve really enjoyed ourselves. It’s great to be having the chance to mingle with the students and enjoy a dance to some good music. Everyone’s had a lot of fun.”
Chris Cox, from Callow End, said: “It’s been really good fun and a great atmosphere. We go to the keep fit class and it’s nice to come together for a Christmas get together with students, who have all been lovely.”
The event also raised over £230 for charity, which will be split between Age UK and the Alzheimer’s Society.
Harry Lonsdale, President at the Students’ Union, said: “This year’s tea dance was a huge success. It was attended by 135 of the ¹û¶³´«Ã½’s Active Ageing group members, as well as our own dance club and loco society. The event completely sold-out this year and as always, it was fantastic to see so many members of the Worcester community.”
