My clinical experience ranges from coronary care and intensive care to working as a research nurse. However, the best days were always those spent with a student, so I knew early on that I wanted to move into an educational role. I was very fortunate to gain a position at a new School of Nursing in West Sussex, supporting the development of BSc, PGDip, and FdSc Nursing Associate courses. When the opportunity arose this year to further develop myself at the ¹û¶³´«Ã½ of Worcester, I jumped at the chance.
My interests lie in the development of evidence-based practice, alongside understanding the factors that impact clinical decision-making in settings such as fear or stress. As a military reservist, I also take a keen interest in leadership and management to support best practice in austere environments, as well as in supporting the MDT to ensure the best outcomes.
In an additional role, I also serve as the Honorary Secretary of the History of Medicine Society within the Royal Society of Medicine. I believe that the history of nursing underpins our professional development, and I hope we continue to explore what has gone before to help define the future of our profession.
